No. 6

I get a job.... oh boy

We made up for the lost time really quickly actually.
Matrix pushed and pushed us so that might be the reason. Psh what ever.

Anyways, as we zoomed by we started to pass by farms and the people working on the farms waved at us.
We smiled and waved back as we zipped past.
"I wish life was that simple." I dreamed.
"Huh?" Rix asked.
"All you had to do was accomplish your chores and then you got the rest of the day off. I wish it was that simple." I explained.
"Oh...." He was quiet again.

We came up to Tyrul fast. The city looked like a bunch of houses linked together by bridges.
But there was a tall wall surrounding the city. And guess what?
we had to pay in order to get in.
there goes all our money.
No I'm dead serious. It took all of our money to get us through the gates and into the city.
Every. Last. Cred.
Oh boy.

"What a rip off!" Quorra exclaimed.
"Shh!" The three of us shouted at her.
She sighed and we took off on our boards again.
"well we cant go anywhere with out creds." Leave it to Matrix to point out the obvious.
"Yes. that's a true statement, so what are we going to do?" I asked.
We had to stop as someone was a commotion happened right in front of us.
"Get out and stay out!"
A large man shoved out a group of guys who looked like they were a band.
"Come on Mr. Estra!" One pleaded. (a dude with black hair in his face haha)
"No! You are fired!" Mr. Estra yelled.
The boys sulked off.
"What am I going to do? If the Creator doesn't bring me a new singer soon I'll be out of business." He muttered.
Matrix got this stupid grin on his face that I knew I wasn't going to like.
"Um, excuse me sir. Did I just hear that you need a new singer?" He asked.
Uh-oh....
Mr. Estra stopped in his tracks and looked at us.
"Yeah. Why can you sing?"
Everyone moved aside, leaving me in the spot light.
Yup. I knew I wasn't going to like it.
"I can sir." I said politely. Stepping forward.
He looked me up and down.
"Are you back ups?"
I glanced back at the others and before they got the chance to say anything I spoke up.
"Yup. They are." If I had to do it. They did too. haha.

Mr. Estra led us inside through the back door.
I found that he owned a.... club of sorts.
I mean it had a stage and a dance floor that lit up. But then it also had tables and a kitchen were you could order from.
"It's all strictly none-alcohol drinks. And most of the people in here are kids anyway." Mr. Estra explained. I nodded.
"Who'll control you tracks?"
"I will." Savrin offered. Mr. Estra took him over to the DJ station to the side of the stage.
I stepped out onto the stage and looked around wide eyed.
The stage was huge!

I should probably explain what the club looked like.
The room was round and very large!
At the far side of it was a semi-circle stage that floated above the ground and glowed blue. Casting a glow on everyone and thing that stood on it.
The steps up to it disappeared as soon as you were off them, and appeared as soon as you put your foot out. But you had to trust it, kind of like a leap of faith.

Lights were positioned both on the back of the stage, and on the banister in front of it.
The kitchen was in the back, and I could hear people making stuff back there. But then there was a counter where people paid for their food.
People were starting to come in and there was a low buzz of noise.
I felt self-counscious as they glanced up at me and pointed.
What was I doing up here?!

Creator, I know you have provided me with this door of opportunity, but please. Help me not to blow it. Please. I prayed as I went over to Savrin who was getting the hang of things.
"So what song do you want to sing first?" He asked, looking up at me.
I turned to Quorra and Matrix.
"Which ones do you guys want to sing?"
"I'm not, I'll be helping out back here." Matrix jumped in. I shot him a look.
"Chicken. Ok," I turned to Quorra. "It's just you and me What'll it be?"
She thought for a moment. Then snapped her fingers.
"Castle in the sky!"
"Oh! I love that one." I turned to Savrin who was typing away at some computer monitor. I pulled my headphones down around my neck as he handed me his to see if it was the right song.
I nodded.
"Yeah that's it." I said handing back the headphones.
He nodded and pressed some buttons.

I turned to see that the lights were up and two microphones were up and ready. Mr. Estra came back.
"We're starting you off with these mics. But if your good, then I'll give you ones that go around your head so you can dance too." I nodded.
"Thanks."
"No problem. Take it away. Lets see what you got." He then left the stage.
I got nervous as more people started to show up and looked expectedly at me.

I turned to Quorra and we did our good luck handshake, then turned to Savrin and gave him the signal.
He hit the music and it wasn't long till I started to sing to the up beat tune.

"There's a place in
My Mind
No one knows where it
Hides.
And my fantasy is
Flying
It's a castle in the
Sky"

The crowd wasn't really sure yet, but it was too early in the song to be judging. I let Quorra take over.

"It's a world of our
Past
Where the legend still
Lasts
And the king wears the
Crown
But the magic spell is
Law."

She was good. We hadn't sung together in a while so it brought back memories when we use to sing this with our mom when we were little.
I jumped in with her and we started the chourus.

"Take your
Sword
and your
Shield

There's a battle on the
Field
You're a knight and you're
Right
So with dragons now you'll
Fight."

Quorra let me have it again. The crowd was now starting to get into it, and some were on the dance floor moving around with surprising grace.

"And my fancy is
Flying
it's a castle in the
Sky
Or there's nothing out
There
These are castles in the
Air.

Fairytales live in
Me
Fables coming from my
Memory
Fantasy is not a
Crime
Find your castle in the
Sky."

The next part was a bunch of music, and a little but of melody. Quorra and I both jumped in.

"Du da dum,
du du da du dum

Du du dum.
du da du da dum."

Then the music got going and both of us started to move to the beat. Encouraging everyone else to do it.

"Du da dum
Castle in the sky.

Du da du da dum
Du da dum
Castle in the sky."

I let Quorra take the lead on the next verse.

"You've got the
Key
Of the kingdom of the
Clouds
Open the door
Leaving back your
Doubts.

You've got the
Power
To live another
Childhood
So ride-"

"The wind
That leads you to the
Moon 'cause...." I jumped in. She laughed and we both started to sing again.

"Fairytales live in
Me
Fables coming from my
Memory
Fantasy is not a
Crime
Find your castle in the
Sky!

Dum du du da da du
Du da du du da dum."

More music, which meant more dancing.
By now the whole crowd was "shredding it" on the dance floor. And so where we.

"Find your castle in the
Sky
You've got the
Key.
So ride the
Wind
That leads you to the
Moon.
And find your castle in the
Sky."

We ended the song with a curtsy and the crowd broke out in applause. Us girls smiled and blushed, while we waved at them. We stepped off the stage (which took a minute) and we met up with a smiling Mr. Estra.
"Ya'll are hired!" He stated.
The boys had joined us and we broke out into laughs and hugs went all around.
"Thank you." We all said. Mr. Estra smiled and nodded.
"No problem."
Thank you Creator! I cried happily.

So that is how I got my first job! Very exciting yeah? well it is. It's fun to get up and sing every night. And after a few shoes, we got onto dancing with it too. It was always just spur of the moment, not planned or anything. But Quorra and I always were good with that kind of thing.

                                                             ++++

But... as soon as we got enough money to move on, we had to quit.
"Mr. Estra?" Sav called. Mr. Estra came around the corner with a smile.
"Yeah?"
"We.... We have to be leaving now sir." He said with a sad tone. (He really enjoyed the whole DJ thing. haha)
"Ah I had a feeling you would be soon. You have a bigger race to run then just singing don't you?" He asked rubbing his chin.
Savrin nodded.
"Well alright. It was a good run kid. I'm glad the Creator sent you my way." Mr. Estra gave Savrin a slap on the back.

But I wasn't there when this happened.
I was out in Tyrul in the one spot that wasn't ever crowded.
It was a small fountain that I had found the first time I had wondered around the city.
It was small, and had water shouting out from the top. And if the sun was just right, then a rainbow would appear. (yes I know completely girly of me psh.)

I was sitting on the rim of the fountain watching the little droplets as they fell back to the basin of water, and as they did sunlight would catch in them, making them appear sunset orange.
I was humming 'My Freedom' (which is one of my favorite songs by the way) as my head swarmed with thoughts and dreams. Most of them seemed extremely far fetched but hey,... what can I say.

I sensed him form the very start. I just wasn't real sure what he wanted, so I didn't confront him.
He walked painfully slow, but soon he was sitting next to me watching the street.
I turned and looked at him.
Same mystery boy that's been stalking me for awhile.... brother.
"I have a message." He said, not looking at me.
"Ok. Shoot." I turned back to the fountain. "who's it from?"
This time the blond haired boy looked at me.
"Take a guess. I'm only ever connected to the two of you. And once he's back I won't even exist anymore." He mumbled.
"Wait what? What do you mean you won't exist anymore?" I asked turning around to a more comfortable position.
He shook his head. "It's complicated. And I can't stay very long."
I sighed. Always full of excuses.
"Alright fine. So what's the message."
"He wants to remind you that no matter how hard you fall, he'll always be there to catch you."
I... wasn't really sure what to say. And at first the words didn't mean anything to me.
But when they started to soak in, I smiled.
"Anything else you want to tell him?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Yeah, tell him I won't loose faith in him. Ever."
He nodded and got up.
"Good luck Zaydie. Don't get yourself killed." He stated, giving me a two fingered salute over his shoulder.
"I will definitely try not to." I stated with a grin.
"You do that. See you around."
Then he disappeared into the crowd on the busy street.
I turned back to the fountain and sighed. Leaning my head down on my arms that rested on the rim of the fountain, I watched it again as I tried to decode your message.
But it wasn't making much sense.

"Hey Zaydie!"
I spun around and found Matrix yelling at me with my pack slung over his shoulder.
"Time to hit the road!"
I jumped up and ran over to him, taking my board and bag off his hands.
"Then I guess we had better get to it." I remarked.
The four of us wove our ways in through the busy streets. I glanced around Tyrul. It was a very interesting city, that's for sure.
I'm not sure I like the fact that all of the houses are connected....hmm....

We made it to the train station and were one of the first ones on the train, which guaranteed us a spot.
In the train we all crashed.
"Ok.... so what's the plan once we get to Vecina?" Quorra asked. Martix held up a finger and checked out in the hall, then closed the door and pushed a button.
The glass started to fog and soon we couldn't see out, and no one could see in.
"That is a good question. And I have no idea." Rix stated, sitting back down.
I leaned against the wall on the window side and faced the rest of the gang.
"So... what do we do?" I asked.
And that's when Tasin showed up. She sat in between Martix and I with the cutest smile on her face.
"Hi everyone!" She said in a sweet voice.
Matrix jumped.
"Where the heck did she come from?" He asked.
"Uh....not really sure actually." I answered.
"right..." he muttered.
I glanced up and saw that Quorra was getting a big smile on her face. One that I knew so well.
"Aw.... she looks like your guys' ki-"
I gave her kick under the table.
"You forgot the age difference Quorra!" I pointed out.
"Well maybe you adopted!"
I shook my head. She was insane.
"What is she talking about?" Rix asked.
"Nothing!" I yelled before Quorra could say anything different.

"Ok, so Tasin, now that your here. Are you going to tell us what we have to do?"
"Yes."
She pulled out a school backpack. (what was with the whole school stuff?) and rummaged around in it.
She pulled out some papers and lied them on the table.
"Boy... for a five year old you sure do have some really nice handwriting." Quorra muttered.
"Thanks. Now here it is." She pulled a piece of paper out of the mess and showed it to us.
"The Fallen have agents everywhere as.... oh he's not here. Never mind. Um..."
Huh?
"Anyways The Fallen have agents everywhere. So your task is simple. Get in with them. Join up with them, then you can find out what their really doing, and how they plan to over take Dresher."
We all looked at her with dumbfounded faces.
"You want us.... to join up with them?" Savrin asked. Tasin nodded.
"Yes.... I'll be in there with you, they won't be able to see me but you guys will."
"do you think that's the best thing to do? I mean they're the ones that want us dead right?" Quorra pointed out.
"Yes. Which makes this plan even better because they would never expect you to join up with them."
We all seemed to take a deep breath and lean back in our seats.
"Well I'll be your outside man. I can't go back in because I uh.... I put a ruffle in their feathers." Rix said.
Tasin nodded.
"Good. They'll need you. One more will be joining up with you who already knows the lay out of the land." She turned to me with her brown eyes. "You'll know what to do when you get to Vecina."
I wasn't really sure what that meant but I nodded anyway.
"where will we find them?" Savrin asked.
"Ah... Now this is the lay out of the city...."

For the entire train ride (which was about three or four hours) we planned and planned and planned.
But by the end of it we had everything laid out like a map. One step right after another. But we couldn't do anything till we found this new member.... and it was up to me to find him.
Yet I had no clue what I was doing!! I didn't even know where to start!!
