No. 3

                                                    Friends with the Fallen?

I will say for Savrin’s sake, that he did get onto me for that. But come on! It was an awesome stunt if I do say so myself. Haha.

Back underneath the train station I found that Matrix had taken off the robe and now had on jeans with navy blue tennis shoes.
He had on a navy blue long sleeved shirt that was shoved up past his elbows, with a white shirt over top of it. The white shirt had a intricate design running from the bottom of the shirt, on the left side and stopping at his shoulder. And then the same design was on his right sleeve only.
On his head he wore a..... a baseball cap, sort of. It was navy blue and it had a small brim. Then the material from the hat kind of sloped down on the brim, and a little in the back too.

Vegg had put on some fast beat music, which had all of them (including MB) swaying to the beat. Quorra was stomping it out and making her own routine. Which then Vegg jumped up and in with her. I smiled as I set my board down against the wall.
“Hey Zaydie! do you know this artist?” Quorra asked over the music.
I went and looked at the computer screen that had the song up.
I shook my head.
“Nope. But I like him.”
Quorra gave me a thumbs up as she kept moving.
Rix moved over to our boards and started to look at them.
He and Savrin struck a conversation that I couldn’t hear over the music.
I shook my head and turned to the two girls.
We then started to get to dancing and got it going pretty good.
“I need to get some music and stuff. I would be listening to this all the time.” I remarked.
“you can! a TymPlyer isn’t much these days, and they hold 8. something megabits.”
I had no clue what a megabit was but ok.
“I’ll show you the store before you leave, then you can download any songs you’d like from my library on the computer.”
I smiled at her.
“Thanks Vegg. I might just do that.”
She nodded.
She must have glanced outside, or at the clock, because then she gasped and ran over to the couch and scooped up a book bag.
“I’m going to be late! I’ll see you guys latter!!” She yelled over her shoulder. She then tossed a hovering skateboard onto the floor and zoomed off down the streets.
“I’m going to assume she meant school.” Quorra said, watching the street that Vegg had disappeared down as the tarp flapped around in the wind.
“Yeah. She’s in eighth grade right now. Top of her class.” Rix explained. I noticed him beam with pride.
“She your little sister?” I asked turning to him. He nodded.
“My one and only.”
I smiled.
“So, what’s next?” I asked. “No wait, I have a question for you Rix. Why were you wearing all that black?”

Rix then went on to explain that he had been working for this organization called The Fallen.
Only he didn’t anymore because he got the info he needed and had quit.
The Fallen were the ones that wanted us dead.
He said they had agents all over the place. And that there were tons of them!
Including the Puppeteer.
(That would explain Valadamir’s ramblings about “they have decided” and all. Well at least it answers the ’who’ but the ’what’ comes next)

The Fallen have been multiplying over time for a while now, and they were growing larger and larger. And as they do they spread to all corners of Dresher. And the only ones that could stand up against them.... would be us..... oh bother.

“Ok then... so what are we going to do?” I asked. “I mean....what are we suppose to do against these people?”
“Look, right now the best thing you can do is bring hope to the people that don’t have any. I mean think about it, harpies have been roaming around the streets of the smaller towns and cities for a while now. They need someone to come in and take care of that.” Rix pointed out. Mama Bear nodded.
“And don’t ever forget that prayer is your strongest weapon.” She added. “The Creator can do anything. You just have to ask.”
I nodded.
“So.... again, what are we going to do now?” Quorra asked.
We were all silent for a while.
Good question.
“Hey, remember what Tasin said?” I asked. “She said that the Puppeteer’s ties were the strongest in Lothomer, Ulrikima, and Vecina. So why not head to one of those?”
“Oh yeah...” Quorra muttered. Sav nodded.
“Ok which one’s closest?” He asked.
Mama Bear got up and walked over to the computer. She pulled up a map and beckoned for us to come over.
“this is where we are.” She pointed to a red blip on the screen. “And Vecina is here.” She pointed to another blip a little ways away on the map.
“It would take about two or three days travel to get there. You would also be passing through several other cities and towns, so you can help fend off the harpies as you go, right?”
I turned to Sav and Quorra. She shrugged.
“Why not? Couldn’t hurt right? And hey, we might find something out. And look!” Quorra pointed back to Vecina. “It’s by the ocean!! The real ocean!!”
I grinned and a sudden flash back to my last words to you came through my mind.
“I’ll be waiting... for you... if you come here.... you’ll find me... I promise.”
It might be false hopes, but I couldn’t help but get butterflies in my stomach. Maybe, just maybe, you might find me there. Just as I promised.

“Well, I’m coming with you.”
I spun on the heels of my new boots (which made a squeaky sound.) My eyebrows rose as I looked at Rix.
“Are you sure? What about Vegg?” Quorra asked.
“We live with Mama Bear anyway, so you can take care of her right?” He asked, turning to the old lady.
“Of course. I would love to take care of her.” She chuckled. “Seeing as I’ve been doing it sense she was five.”
We all smiled.
“Well, ok if you really want to. But don’t say we didn’t warn you.” I said with a shrug.
“Cool. We leave tomorrow. You can bunk down with us if you want.” Matrix offered. We nodded our thanks.
“Tomorrow we’ll stop by here before heading out on the trains. I have something that might be easier to carry then those air boards.” He said, gesturing to the boards leaning against the wall.
Hmm....

                                                              ++++

We spent the night on the floor, which was fine with me. I really could care less, I was just exhausted.
As soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell into lala-land.

The blond head boy was there again. And again he told me to trust him.
I hesitated a moment, but finally put my hand in his.
He smiled down at me, and the sun shone through the clouds, the fog disappeared and I saw that we were now standing in the sand on the beach, with a palm tree over our heads creating shade.
“Who are you?” I asked. He looked down at me with a smile.
“I’m you.”
My jaw dropped.
“Huh?”
He laughed. There was something.... familiar about him.... something that I knew I should know in an instant, only.... I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
“Humph. Everyone’s saying that.” I muttered, looking out at the ocean waves crashing against the shore.
“Just remember Zaydie, the shadows hold secrets.”
I looked up at him as something struck me as really, really odd.
“I’ve heard that one before.”
He laughed and interlocked his hands behind his head and leaned back on his left foot.
Memories washed over me giving me a headache.
“ah!” I clutched my head as images swirled around behind my eyes.
In one I could almost make out your face, but then it slipped away again. Along with the headache.
I lowered my hands and glanced at the boy again. From this angle he looked....
“Who are you? you look vaguely familiar.... but I know for a fact that I’ve never met you before. So why are you in my dreams?!” I asked with my hands on my hips.
“You have met me before. You just don’t know it yet.”
“Oh? And when I did I supposedly meet you before?”
He locked me in his gaze with his amazing blue eyes.
“You should know the answer to that. Seeing as we were so tight.”
That..... did not help a thing.
“You need to look beyond the outer appearances Zaydie. Because if you don’t, you might miss the biggest blessing the Creator has given you.” He said, turning back to the ocean.
I shook my head, trying to get rid of all the confusion.
“See you around Zaydie.” He said with a two fingered salute, then he ran off down the beach.
And I woke up.
I looked around and saw Savrin and Quorra were still sleeping.
“Wow.... that was really, really weird.” I muttered.
